I miss my friend

I sent out an update the other day to some of Brian’s friends and our family. He was able to call last weekend – only for fifteen minutes – and it was SO good to hear his voice. It had been at least a couple of months, if not three. He is still thinking he’ll [...]

my weekend

Grace is taking a late nap, so I guess I’ll write for a minute or two. It’s either that or workout … I think I’ll blog.
I survived the weekend! Yay! And it took me til Thursday to let you know I’m alive, LOL.
What a weekend it was. I put a lot of miles on [...]

weekend plans

I have a busy weekend ahead of me. Today I’m trying to get our things packed. We’ll be spending the night at my mom’s. Grace will be there two nights, in fact. Tomorrow I’m going to head down to Salem to go to an open house at a seminary I’m looking at. I almost didn’t [...]

the mindset

I am SO not doing the right thing right now. It’s 11:17 PM, and I should be reading some Dean Koontz, taking my mind off of my life. Instead I am writing to Brian, reading news from Afghanistan, and basically sabotaging future efforts to sleep. Trust me … I *know.*
When Brian was home on leave [...]

a montage

The time is approaching when Brian is going to be coming home. I haven’t heard from him in two weeks, which causes me to be more anxious than usual. Mail is suspended, as the guys are moving around, and everyone is getting ready to travel.
I made this video for Brian for our eighth anniversary in [...]

yay!

So … thanks to everyone who has checked out my latest website: Portland, Oregon Churches – Your only local guide!
I’m checking my stats, and guess what? People are finding it! So, that’s great!
And I guess I’ll have to skip some of those aforementioned TV shows tonight because that means I gotta get this website [...]

my TV picks

My dad and I were laughing yesterday about shows that we make a ‘commitment’ too … no matter what, if it’s on, we are there! The Sopranos is one of those shows, and unfortunately I guess my commitment has dwindled as I’m not willing to pay $25 a month to watch the last nine episodes. [...]

some new pics

Do you think she’s waiting for Daddy?

We spent one of our first days outside yesterday for this year! It was beautiful. I am paying for it today with allergies, but you know … you can’t stay inside all the time! Grace had a great time playing in the sandbox, swinging, running around, and drawing with [...]

Welcome!

I'm Rachel - mom, wife, youth minister, and student! I'm also a deployment survivor! My husband, Brian, is an OEF veteran and returned in June 2007 from Afghanistan. This blog has followed Grace and I while we made our way here at home ... and still now as we all adjust to being a family again and prepare for another deployment in 2009. Thanks for reading!
