Friday afternoon

So, we finally saw Brian last night! He was home a bit before we all went to bed, and then he had to work today. Probably tomorrow too. Maybe the next day. After a deployment, they check in their gear, fill out paperwork, and that kind of thing, so they have to work for a [...]

Yea!

Great News! Brian is home! Well, he’s not home *yet,* but he is in town and called from the airport late last night. He is supposed to be coming home this evening sometime, he wasn’t sure. Most likely he’ll have to work a couple of days, and then we will get to see him all [...]

sorry

I have been a little slow on the blog lately because I haven’t really been sure what to say.
In some ways, short deployments are just as hard as long ones. The saving grace is that you can tell yourself that it will be over soon. As for the day to day struggles though and feelings [...]

alert

I haven’t heard from Brian yet, but here is an article I found today. Did you know you can set up Google to alert you about stories you might be interested in? I think they are kicking butt down there! Let’s hear it for the Oregon National Guard!

what i needed

I am watching Fox News, and New Orleans is flooding again. They haven’t mentioned the area Josh is in or the area Brian (was?) is in. They never do though, so I have no idea what is happening. I wish Brian would call, but I imagine he will after this hurricane hits. To keep up [...]

Gymbo

Brian called, and [...]

11 months old…

My baby is growing up too fast. Instead, she is becoming my little girl. She is more and more independent each day. She knows exactly what she wants and what she doesn’t. She decides what to eat and when. She won’t drink unless she is in control of the sippy cup. Today she took four [...]

deployment update…

Sorry I have been MIA a little bit! I have just been so busy, doing what I don’t know, but there ya have it. Appointments and things. Computer broke. Internet broke. All are now fixed, thanks to my ingenuity.
Brian is doing well. I have talked to him a couple more times. Apparently Grace and I [...]

Welcome!

I'm Rachel - mom, wife, youth minister, and student! I'm also a deployment survivor! My husband, Brian, is an OEF veteran and returned in June 2007 from Afghanistan. This blog has followed Grace and I while we made our way here at home ... and still now as we all adjust to being a family again and prepare for another deployment in 2009. Thanks for reading!
